Chitwan administration tightens lockdown

CHITWAN: Local administration in Chitwan has tightened the ongoing lockdown amid the growing number of coronavirus cases in the district.

People’s mobility has reduced with the local administration further tightening lockdown.

Emergency vehicles and other carrying essentials are only allowed to ply as the security forces, including Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, have tightened security checks in every nooks and corners across the district.

Ambulances, Fire engines, hearses and vehicles carrying journalists, health workers, daily essentials, medicines and dairy consumable stuffs are allowed to operate.

Ishwor Simkhada, Information Oat the District Administration Office, Chitwan said the administration did not allow a State Assembly member travelling without a vehicle pass to go beyond the Narayani bridge.

Simkhada said they would not allow anyone travelling rampant amidst lockdown except those in emergency service.

Banks, meanwhile, are allowed to operate following safety measures, according to assistant chief district officer Netra Sharma.

On Thursday, the local administration took action against 38 vehicles plying without pass, and 15 people for defying lockdown, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ek Narayan Koirala.

Since the lockdown orders enforced in March, a total of 1,188 vehicles have faced action in the district.
