Coronavirus death toll climbs to 86, 879 in USA



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,682 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 86, 879.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 25, 403 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,455,750 as of Friday morning.

Currently, 1,052, 147 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,240 are critical.  Meanwhile, 316, 724 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 27, 426 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 9,950 and 5,482 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 213 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 303,030 and infecting 4,520,092  people as of Friday morning.
