One held for spreading rumor about COVID-19



SURKHET: Police in Surkhet have arrested a person on the charge of spreading rumors about the coronavirus on social media.

The alleged has been identified as Dharmaraj Acharya of Kalunchowk of Birendranagar-8, according to the District Police Office, Surkhet.

In his Facebook status he wrote, “Coronavirus has been seen in Surkhet…but yet to be confirmed”.

District Police Office’s information officer Gopal Rayamajhi informed that the accused is under investigation.

Likewise, police is searching for another Facebook user called Prem Bibas for writing ‘coronavirus was seen on one at Lekbeshi municipality-1’.

State Health Directorate Surkhet lab in-charge Om Acharya said no COVID-19 has been found yet in the Karnali State.
