North Korea test fires short-range anti-ship missiles

SEOUL: North Korea has launched several short-range anti-ship cruise missiles into the sea as part of military exercises, South Korea’s military has said.

The tests were conducted on the eve of a national holiday in the country to celebrate the birthday of Kim Il Sung, the country’s founder and grandfather of the current leader, Kim Jong Un.

Launched on Tuesday, the anti-ship missiles plunged into the sea some 150 kilometers off the east coast town of Munchon.

Likewise, Sukhois carried out firing tests. There was no indication on the number of missiles.

North Korea has conducted weeks of military drills, including multiple launches of short-range ballistic missiles.
