Coronavirus death toll crosses 127,000, infects nearly 2 million across world

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 127,601 after more than 6,900 people died in the last 24 hours as of Wednesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 71, 268 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 1,995,205.

Currently, 1,401,461 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 51,595 are critical.

Meanwhile, 467,226 have returned home after treatment.

The death toll in the United States of America (USA) has reached 25, 975 after 2, 335 died in the last 24 hours as of Wednesday morning.

According to reports, with 24, 804 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 611, 745.

Currently, 547, 095 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 13, 473 is critical.  Meanwhile, 38, 675 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 10, 834 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 2, 805 and 1, 768 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a public health emergency on January 31 in the US.

Similarly, Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has witnessed 602 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the number of death toll to 21, 067 as of Wednesday morning.

With 2, 972 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 162, 488, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America.

Currently, 104, 291 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 3,186, are critical. Meanwhile, 37,130 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 174, 060 after the United States of America (USA). According to Worldometer, 3, 961 people were infected and 499 died in a single day.

A total of 18, 255 people have died due to the novel virus as of Wednesday morning.

Currently, 88, 301 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 7, 371 are critical. Meanwhile, 67, 504 have returned home after recovery.

Likewise, the United Kingdom (UK) has reported 778 new deaths taking total death toll to 12, 107 as of Wednesday morning.

With 5, 252 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 93, 873, according to Worldometer. Currently, 81, 422 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.

France has registered 15, 729 deaths after 762 died in a single day. This is more by 188 than the number of deaths compared to yesterday. A total of 574 died yesterday. According to reports, 6, 524 new cases were reported taking the total number of infection cases to 143, 303 as Wednesday morning.

Currently, 98,769 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 6, 730 are critical. Meanwhile, 28,805 have returned home after recovery.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world.
