KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said the economic growth has surged and famine has ended in the country since he took charge as the head of the government.

Addressing the federal parliament in New Baneshwor on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli said the growth has surged and it is not limited to the figures alone but in reality, too. “People have realized it”.

Boasting of the government’s achievements, Oli said Nepal has already entered the age of tunnel development with the Nagdhunga tunnel construction.

Tatopani checkpoint that was destroyed by the mega earthquake in 2015 has resumed and Nepal has become independent in eggs and fish production.

Similarly, 325 road bridges were constructed and 3,636 km roads have been blacktopped in the span of two years.

Nepal has made a significant achievement in the power production and has started supplying it to India and to the other countries, added Oli.

Oli went on to say that constitutional organs have become efficient penalizing those who were used to getting their works done through the backdoor.

The government has placed Tokha-Betrawati-Kerung tunnel construction on top priority, said Oli, adding. “The government is rendering efforts to return the territory of Nepal encroached by India.”

He further said that the government is rescuing Nepali students from China which is currently reeling under the coronavirus.

Oli has apprised the parliament of the achievements made by the government in the span of two years.

The Oli-led government has completed two years today since he took charge as the head of the government.
