Shekhar Koirala demands to repeal ordinance on Constitutional Council

KATHMANDU: Reactions from the political spectrum have been pouring in after the government brought an ordinance to amend the Constitutional Council Act.

Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has termed the bringing the ordinance ‘a stepping stone to the dictatorship’.

Commenting on the ordinance, Dr. Koirala wrote, “The ordinance on the Constitutional Council, which is against the spirit and essence of the constitution, should be repealed immediately. This ordinance is a stepping stone to the dictatorship we have been talking about.”

After President Bhandari hastily issued the ordinance without any discussion in the Cabinet, not only the leaders of the main opposition but also the leaders of the ruling party have protested.
