Case filed against those posting indecent messages on social media



KATHMANDU: Police have registered cases against two persons for posting and sending sexually explicit messages and audiovisual contents on social networking sites.

The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police filed a case against Kiran Buda from Dhakari Rural Municipality-5 of Achham district at the Kathmandu District Court for a doctored photo of famous female artists and posting them on popular social networking site-Facebook. The Bureau acted on the complaint.

In a press statement released by the Bureau on Thursday, Bureau Spokesperson SSP Nabind Aryal said that Buda was learned to be operating an online portal in which he was abused by posting sexually explicit content.

Furthermore, SSP Aryal said that a complaint was filed against him for illegally developing an online portal in the name of Dhakari Rural Municipality and damaging its image. Police had looked into the matter based on that complaint. He has been charged as per the Electronic Transaction Act-2063.

Likewise, the Bureau registered a case against Prabin Dhakal of Kageshwori Manahari Municipality, Kathmandu at the Kathmandu District Court on the charge of distributing child pornographic contents.

Police acted on the complaint registered by the people who were harassed by video and audio contents relating to child pornography. Police investigated the case and found his involvement in such criminal activity.
