Three persons die from coronavirus for lack of ICU service



KATHMANDU: Three persons infected with COVID-19 succumbed to the deadly infection – one each from Arghakhanchi, Rupandehi, and Banke districts on Thursday.

In all cases, the patients needed medical intervention in the ICU but all the ICU in every COVID-19 Hospitals and other health facilities here were occupied with the alarming rise in the COVID-19 cases in these districts lately.

A 73-year-old man from Bhumikaisthan of Arghakhanchi district lost his life to the flu-like infection.

He died while being rushed to hospital in Dang district from his hometown, informed Lumbini State Hospital’s Information Officer Dr. Bishnu Gautam.

 The deceased had tested positive for the COVID-19 last Tuesday.

Similarly, a 70-year-old woman of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City died on Thursday morning at Special Hospital of Butwal in Rupandehi. She was also suffering from high fever and asthma.

Likewise, a 65-year-old man from Prajatipur in Janaki Rural Municipality-6 in Banke district also breathed her last due to the coronavirus at COVID-19 Special Hospital of Bheri Hospital in Banke, according to the Corona Focal Person in Banke district, Naresh Shrestha.

Shrestha said that with this, the fatality caseload from COVID-19 in the district (Banke) has reached 27.

The infected person was receiving treatment at the pre-isolation ward.

He was treated with plasma therapy as well after he developed complications regarding respiration but to no avail.

All the dead bodies have been managed in coordination between the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre in the respective districts.

There are currently 565 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in isolation facilities in Banke, shared Shrestha.
