COVID-19 claims two more people in Baglung and Tehrathum



KATHMANDU: Two additional people including a septuagenarian man have died from coronavirus in separate places of the country.

A 49-year-old man has died from coronavirus in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

Originally from Tehrathum, the patient succumbed to the virus at 7 pm on Wednesday, informed Dr Ashish Shrestha, the deputy spokesperson for the hospital.

Coronavirus infection was detected in him during a test after he was admitted to the hospital on October 11.

Referred to Dharan from District Hospital, Dhankuta, he was also suffering from pneumonia.

With this, the number of deaths from coronavirus has reached 54 at the Institute.

Similarly, a 77-year-old man has died from coronavirus in Baglung district.

The septuagenarian succumbed to the virus in the course of treatment at Charak Memorial Hospital in Pokhara on Wednesday evening.

Originally from Baglung municipality-2, the infected elderly was brought to Pokhara on Sunday after his health condition deteriorated.

“A 77-year-old man died due to coronavirus in the course of treatment in Pokhara,” said Dr Binod Bindu Sharma, the spokesperson for the COVID-19 Control and Prevention Program of Gandaki Pradesh.

Grocery shopkeeper by profession, he was also suffering from high blood pressure and cardiac-related ailments.

With this, the number of deaths from coronavirus has reached two in Baglung district and 46 in Gandaki Pradesh, according to province’s the Ministry of Social Development.
