Will Oli govt reappoint Kulman Ghising as NEA MD?

KATHMANDU: Despite calls for reappointment of Managing Director (MD) of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising from all quarters, a cabinet meeting held on Monday did not touch upon the issue yesterday.

Earned popularity among the people in general by eliminating the 18-hour-long load shedding hours, Ghising’s four-year term expired on Monday but his reappointment did not feature in the agenda in yesterday’s cabinet meeting.

Minister for Energy Barshaman Pun did not take the proposal to the meeting which was widely expected.

Earlier, Oli had agreed to extend Ghising’s term by two years in a meeting with Nepal Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal but now he is not in a mood to reappoint him.

According to sources, Ghising tried to meet with Oli for several times recently but the former did not get opportunities to do so.
