Lidi landslide: 11 deceased identified, 27 still missing; settlement to be shifted



KATHMANDU: Eleven people killed in the landslide of Jugal rural municipality-2, Lidi in Sindhupalchowk district have been identified.

According to District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, the deceased have been identified as Tikamaya Dong, Chhiring Dong, Jitai Jhankri, Milan Dong, Sanu Dong, Jaya Bahadur Dong, Dawa Lhamu Dong, Taralhmo Dong, Pirti Dong, Dhan Maya Dong and Remex Dong.

Twenty-seven people are still missing in the landslide that occurred in Lidi village at 6 am on Friday.

A search and rescue operation has started since early today, said police.

Settlement to be shifted

Meanwhile, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has said the settlement at the Lidi village will be shifted to a safe and proper area.

Home Minister Thapa said so after inspecting the landslide-hit incident site on Friday. Thapa had reached the incident site with relief materials on Friday afternoon.
