All roads except for main two highways sealed in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR: Madhyapur municipality has sealed all the roads except two main highways in a bid to stem the Coronavirus spread.

An emergency meeting of the municipality held on Wednesday took a decision to this effect after two COVID-19 cases were diagnosed in Bhaktapur district recently.

All the inner roads including shops have been sealed except for Arniko Highway section and Pepsicola-Sanothimi-Sallaghari road section, said Madan Sundar Shrestha, Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi municipality.

He further said all the vehicles except for essential ones including water tanker, ambulance, fire engine, vehicles carrying food stuffs have been banned.

“No people will be allowed to enter the municipality”, Shrestha said adding, ” all the house owners have been directed not to let outsiders to stay in their houses.”

Meanwhile, police have sealed 20 houses at Shankhadhar Chowk area after a 25-year-old woman tested positive for Coronavirus in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality. She is a nurse at Arogya Hospital.

Meanwhile, a police constable of Armed Police Force from Changunaraya municipality, Duwakot is another person infected with the novel virus in the district.
