Lawmakers suggest govt to bring program boosting economy

Parliamentarians on Wednesday suggested the government to bring policy and programs that will boost the country’s economy which is dented much with coronavirus menace.

They demanded special relief package to creation of jobs in the coming policy and programs the government was launching soon for the coming fiscal year.

Development of human resources and infrastructures building to make health sector robust and effective; and creation of jobs for those returned from abroad in the agriculture sector and entrepreneurship would help prop up economy, they added.

Only a few BFI branches to be operated from Thursday

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has started distributing vehicle passes to the Banking and Financial Institutions.

According to NRB, it is distributing 20 passes for ‘A’ class Commercial Banks, 10 passes for ‘B’ class development banks, 8 passes for finance companies, and 5 passes for micro-finance institutions.

NRB has distributed additional passes to the BFIs to operate the institutions. After the government decided to scrap vehicle passes effective from Thursday, only a few branches will operate.

Medical supplies worth 5 million Yuan handed over to Nepal Army

China’s People’s Liberation Army handed over medical supplies worth five million Yuan.

An aircraft belonging to China Air Force carrying medical supplies and equipment from China landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Wednesday morning. The plane of the military aviation branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces arrived at the TIA carrying essential medical equipment and supplies.

The aircraft brought medical materials, including the testing kits for COVID-19. The Health materials were donated by the Chinese Liberal Army to the Nepal government. It is said that the aircraft will return to China today itself.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi handed over the medical supplies to Chief of Army Staff General Purna Chandra Thapa amid a program organized at the Army Headquarters. CoAS Thapa thanked the Chinese government for the support.
