Dailekh-based rural municipalities create separate funds to battle COVID-19

DAILEKH: Local governments in Dailekh district have set up separate funds equivalent to Rs 40 million for the prevention and control of coronavirus.

The disaster fund established to combat the global pandemic of coranavirus is being used to purchase necessary medicines, equipment, and to build quarantine facilities.

The Aathbis municipality has managed the fund of Rs 7.9 million while Narayan municipality has collected a fund of Rs 3 million.

Likewise, Dullu municipality has established a fund of Rs 6.3 million for the prevention, control and treatment of novel coronavirus.

Mahabu rural municipality and Chamunda Bindrasaini municipality has each ensured 5 million-fund followed by Bhagawatimai rural municipality’s 3 million-fund.

The Dugeshwor rural municipality has a fund equivalent to Rs 2.5 million followed by Rs 1.9 million of Bhairabhi rural municipality and Rs 1 million of Naumule rural municipality.

The District Coordination Committee, Dailekh chief Prem Thapa urged each local government to maintain transparency in the use of fund.

Additionally, several wards at Aathbis and Chamunda Bindrasaini municipalities have been turned into emergency quarantine centers.
