KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued a 24-point directive to the district and high courts across the country for the management of case delivery.

Issuing a note, Chief Registrar of the SC, Nrijdhowj Niraula, has asked the courts to take precaution measures towards the health sensitivity of the self, colleagues and the service recipients during the unusual time of threat caused by the deadly coronavirus.

The SC has also asked to use the conscience and wisdom by adopting special sensitivity towards the safety of life.

The SC further directed to maintain distance during the job in the court premises, avoiding crowds and conduct a hearing maximum of three reports on a single bench.

The legal professionals defending the case would be given a maximum of 20 minutes while arrangement for video conference would be made if they were supposed to furnish additional points, reads the directive.

The use of gloves, sanitizer and masks would be made compulsory to those entering the courts.

Likewise, more than one meter of distance should be maintained if possible among the judges in the division bench and stakeholders of other cases, and provision should be made to park the vehicles without making crowds,
according to the SC’s directive.

Furthermore, the courts have been asked to make sure that only 50 percent of the judges and officials remain present at the court in the working day meant for avoiding crowds and maintaining a physical distance.

The SC said that such a directive was issued as per the decision of the SC’s full meeting held on Friday.
