Death toll from toxic alcohol consumption in Dhanusha rises to 15

DHANUSHA: The number of people succumbing to the intake of toxic alcohol at Ramadaiya of Kshireshwornath municipality in Dhanusha has reached 15.

They had taken ill after consuming locally made liquor excessively in course of celebrating the Holi festival a few days ago, the District Police Office said.

Those passing away today are Banarasi Devi Sada, Mithila Sada and Jgaharu Sada.

Till Friday, the death toll had reached 12.

Five others taken ill after consuming toxic alcohol are undergoing treatment.

Area Police Office Mahendranagar’s police inspector Pappu Nayak said the investigation into the matter has begun.

The entire village is in grief due to the unexpected deaths of locals. The dead are from poor economic class, it is said.

Meanwhile, police have arrested seven persons for an investigation into the incident.
