Locals protest decision to quarantine health workers, NAC crew in Nagarkot



BHAKTAPUR: Locals have protested the government’s decision to quarantine health workers and crew members in the district who are scheduled to go to China to evacuee Nepalis in the district.

The Ministry of Health and Population is preparing to quarantine them at National Drinking Water and Sanitation Training Center in Changunarayan-6. Lamatole.

An aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will leave for Wuhan, China at 2:45 pm on Saturday afternoon to evacuate Nepalis from the city that is currently reeling under the epidemic of Covid-19.

According to NAC, nine crew members including three pilots will be on board the aircraft. Four health workers will also board the aircraft, said the Ministry of Health and Population.

The aircraft is scheduled to return at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 2:15 am on Sunday.The Nepalis to be brought from China will undergo screening at the airport for Covid-19 upon their arrival.

Those showing symptoms similar to the disease will be sent to the Teku-based Shukraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital and others to isolation in Kharipati, Bhaktapur.

They will be quarantined at the training center of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for 14 days. 199 isolation beds have been already managed to quarantine the evacuees.
