NC expresses sorrow over Upadhyaya’s demise

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has expressed sorrow over the demise of National Assembly member and party general convention representative Durga Prasad Upadhyaya.

Upadhyaya, 50, succumbed to cancer in course of treatment today. In his condolence message, Deuba has wished for eternal peace to the departed soul, extending heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.

Terming Upadhyaya’s demise as an irreparable loss to the party, he said the party and he personally was shocked by the news and felt so sorry over his untimely death.

Upadhyaya had been active in NC since the 2046 people’s movement in Nepal. He had been elected the vice chair of the then Madhuwani Village Development Committee in Rupandehi during the 2054 local elections.

Upadhyaya, who had served as party regional president during the NC 12th and 13th general convention, has been elected to the NA in 2074 BS from the NC from State 5.
