House passes condolence motion on Upadhyaya’s demise



KATHMANDU: Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has passed a condolence motion on the untimely demise of Nepali Congress lawmaker Durga Prasad Upadhyaya.

Upadhyaya was elected to the National Assembly on a Nepali Congress seat in the election held in 2074 BS.

The meeting passed the condolence motion, presented by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota, unopposed. The meeting also observed one minute’s silence, wishing for eternal peace of the departed soul.

He had been playing an active role being associated with Nepali Congress since people’s movement-2046 BS.

Suffering from cancer for long, Upadhyaya passed away at his residence in Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality-10 of Rupandehi at the age of 50.

The next HoR meeting has been scheduled at 11:00 am on Saturday.
