Normal life hit as mercury dips to 4 degree Celsius in Valley

KATHMANDU:  Normal life has been affected in the Kathmandu Valley after the temperature went down to 4 degree Celsius on Monday morning.

This is the record low temperature of the year so far. It was 5 degree Celsius on Sunday morning.

According to Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), the westerly wind and the wind from south-east Arabian Sea are blowing into Nepal.  It is likely to bring changes in the weather patterns in Nepal with chances of light rain and snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous region.

Due to the westerly wind, currently, the weather is partly cloudy in some parts of the country while the Tarai is covered in thick flogs.

The weather will remain clear in the Tarai region and generally cloudy in the other parts of the country during the day, according to Nirajan Sapkota, a meteorologist.

Similarly, light rain is likely in some parts of the hilly region of Province 1 tonight, said MFD.
