JHAPA: In a tragic incident, a woman was crushed to death by a paddy thresher at Bahradashi rural municipality-6 in the district today morning.
The deceased has been identified as local resident Lila Devi Chapagain, 47. The incident took place as Chapagain was trying to pick up an ear of paddy while the thresher machine was on. The belt of the thresher machine caught the edge of her sari pulling her whole body inside, leading to the incident, said the police.
The thresher (Me 1 Ta 6601) belongs to the local Bhupal Prasain. She died on the spot. The body of Chapagain was sent to Mechi Provincial Hospital for a postmortem, said the police.
