Energy Minister directs resumption of long halted transmission line at Solu corridor



KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barsha Man Pun, has expressed concerns about the long halted transmission line at Solu corridor.

He has asked concerned authorities to resume the 132 KV double circuit transmission line by resolving problems surrounding it.

The minister called lawmaker Suresh Kumar Rai who represents the federal parliament from Udayapur, mayor of Katari municipality Gyanendra Shrestha, ward chair of the municipality-4 Krishna Raj Danuwar and chief of the Solu corridor project Janardan Gautam at the ministry and asked them to resolve the problems facing the project.

Local people of Katari municipality-4 in Udayapur district have halted the project time and again by demanding compensation for public lands acquired for the project and the installation of the tower of the project in other areas than the proposed one.

It may be noted that Nepal Electricity Authority paid a fine of 45 percent of the amounts spent in the project promoter for failure to complete the project in time.
