Services at Bardaghat municipality closed as mayor contracts COVID-19

NAWALPARASI: Services at Bardaghat municipality in Nawalparasi district have been closed after the mayor tested positive for COVID-19.

However, other wards and health service under the municipality except ward-4 would remain open, said the municipality chief administrator Megh Nath Padhya. Mayor Dhiraj Sharma Basyal was tested on Monday.

Service has been halted as staffs and people’s representatives who were in a direct contact with the mayor would be tested for the infection, said Padhya.

After contracting the virus, mayor Basyal is in home isolation and his health is normal, said the municipality. The municipality has wished the mayor a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, the municipality has directed those educational institutions within the municipality operating amid the pandemic to close classes in view of the growing risk of spread of coronavirus infection.
