KATHMANDU: Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 20 runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match held in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday night.
Hyderabad was restricted to 147 runs with the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs while it was chasing the 168-run target set by Chennai.
Despite KS Williamson’s half-century score of 57 runs, Hyderabad could not reach the target as the other batsmen could not perform well. JM Bairstow and PK Garg hit 23 and 16 runs respectively.
Chennai’s DJ Bravo and KV Sharma took two wickets each of Hyderabad.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Chennai had notched up 167 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Chennai’s SR Watson top-scored with 42 runs studded with one four and three sixes off 38 balls while AT Rayudu and SM Curran made 41 and 31 runs, respectively.
With this win, Chennai is in the sixth position with six points. Hyderabad is in the fifth position with six points on the basis of run rate. Both Chennai and Hyderabad have played equal eight games.
