Cabinet meeting taking place at 5 pm; likely to appoint NEA Managing Director

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the cabinet is taking place at 5 pm today.

Prime Minister KP Oli has called the meeting this evening to “discuss some important issues”, according to a cabinet minister.

It is widely speculated that the government is likely to appoint the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), which is lying vacant after former Managing Director Kul Man Ghising completed his four-year full term on Sunday.

Sources have claimed that Minister of Energy Barsa Man Pun is likely to propose Ghising’s name for the post.

Likewise, the cabinet meeting is also likely to discuss the nomination of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam to the National Assembly.
