CIAA sees most of the complaints related to local level

SURKHET: Most of the complaints registered at the Surkhet-based office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) have been found to be related to the local level.

According to the office, 554 out of 1,080 graft cases registered during the past one year are related to local level.

Among them, 195 complaints registered were related to the education sector at the local level.

The office sources said most of the complaints were registered from the local level.

As per the official data, there were 106 cases related to the ministry of education, science and technology, 63 related to the ministry of industry, tourism, forest and environment and 63 of the ministry of commerce and supplies.

Among other registered complaints are 38 related to the ministry of energy, hydropower and irrigation and 30 related to the ministry of federal affairs and general administration.

Among 10 districts of the Karnali State, Surkhet has registered the highest number of complaints.

According to the official data, 238 complaints were registered from Surkhet followed by 186 from Dailekh, 144 from Jajarkot, 102 from Kalikot, 84 from Jumla, 80 from Salyan, 78 from Rukum-West, 66 from Humla, 53 from Mugu and 49 from Dolpa district.

CIAA Surkhet Office chief Narayan Risal said over 100 complaints were registered this year in comparison to the last fiscal year.

Among the total registered, as many as 613 complaints have been primarily settled while comprehensive study has been carried out on 157 complaints.

The office said in-depth investigation has been undertaken on 83 complaints.
