KATHMANDU: Three including the then Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Tilak Bahadur Rawal, accused of corruption in the polymer banknote printing case, have been acquitted.
A full bench of the Special Court on Tuesday cleared Rawal, Upendra Keshari Poudel, Head of the Nepal Rastra Bank’s Note Department and Himalaya Bahadur Pandey of May Flower Limited, the local representative of the agent responsible for printing the polymer banknote, of the charges.
A full bench of Special Court Chairperson Shivraj Adhikari and Judges Balendra Rupakheti and Shantisingh Thapa made the verdict.
The court acquitted them on the grounds that they were not directly involved in the case and the case lacked credible evidence.
