KATHMANDU: Indians have criticized Prime Minister KP Oli for his controversial statement that Ayodhya is in Nepal and Rama is Nepali.

Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) flayed Prime Minister Oli stating that his statement is controversial.

Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Oli, BJP’s Spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri said that people’s faith towards Rama who is regarded as god should not be politicized.

“BJP has flayed Prime Minister Oli for his controversial statement. The faith towards Rama who is regarded as god should not be politicized,” said BJP’s Spokesperson Shastri.

“Rama is our symbol of faith. No one can play down and politicize the faith of the people, whether he is the Prime Minister of Nepal or anybody else,” said Shastri.

Prime Minister KP Oli on Monday made a comment of Lord Ram’s birthplace claiming that India has taken to cultural encroachment by ‘creating a fake Ayodhya’.

Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti at PM’s residence, PM Oli stated that some distortion of facts could have gone in the claim of India’s Ayodhya as the birthplace of Lord Ram.

Indian media have said that Prime Minister Oli made this controversial statement with an intent to escalate the political dispute between Nepal and India

Indian media PTI has dubbed Oli’s statement as ‘shocking and highly controversial’.
