Selfie-seeking Messi’s fan invades pitch

BARCELONA: Spectators are not allowed at La Liga games to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

However, restrictions could not dissuade a fan of Lionel Messi from sneaking in to Barcelona’s match.

Clad in an Argentina jersey with Messi’s number 10, and holding his phone, Messi’s fan walked onto the pitch and approached Barca defender Jordi Alba before moving towards Messi.

Security guards tackled the intruder before he could make contact with Messi. Two police personnel helped remove him from the ground.
