Six dead bodies retrieved from Parbat landslide

Search for three missing underway



PARBAT: Dead bodies of six people out of nine buried in a landslide at Dhakalbari of Durlung in Kushma Municipality-3 of Parbat district on Saturday night have been retrieved so far.

Nine people of two families were buried in the mudslide caused by a torrential downpour.

The bodies of Tul Bahadur Thapa, 58, his wife Meenkumari Thapa and granddaughters Bibisha Thapa, Deepa Thapa and Kamala BK and Pramisha BK were found buried in the landslide.

Police said that they are searching for three more people. The search for Samrat Thapa, Bibek Thapa and Janice BK buried in the landslide is underway, said Inspector Buddhi Subedi at District Police Office

Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and locals have continued the search operation.

The landslide was triggered by the heavy rainfall that took place for almost two hours on Saturday evening. Livestock inside the two houses are also believed to have perished in the incident, ward chair of Kusma-3 Tej Prasad Padhya said.
