Death toll from Parbat landslide reaches 5

Search for four missing underway



PARBAT: The death toll from a landslide at Dhakalbari of Durlung in Kushma Municipality-3 of Parbat district on Saturday night has reached five.

The bodies of two of the six people who went missing due to the landslide have also been found on Sunday morning, said police, adding that search for four others was underway.

Earlier, Tul Bahadur Thapa, 58, his wife Meenkumari Thapa and granddaughter Bibisha Thapa were found buried in a landslide triggered by torrential rains for about two hours on Saturday.

According to the District Police Office, Parbat, a search is on for those missing using an excavator. Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and locals have been deployed for rescue soon after the landslide.
