India reports 12,368 new cases, death toll crosses 9,000

NEW DELHI: In the highest single-day spike, India reported 12,368 fresh cases of coronavirus on Saturday.

While the COVID-19 death toll crossed 9,000 with fatalities showing a steady rise in the past few days, media reports said.

With 310 fatalities reported on Saturday, the country’s death toll rose to 9,195 — the ninth highest number of deaths from the virus in the world.

The number of people infected with the coronavirus has exceeded 321,000.
