Five die of excessive consumption of alcohol

JANAKPUR: Five people have died in Dhanusha district apparently due to excessive consumption of alcohol.

The deceased have been identified as Raju Mahara, 30, Ramnarayn Mahara, Brahmadev Yadav 35, Gudari Mahara, 36, Bilas Mahara, 42, of Kshireshwornath Municipality-2, said Police Inspector Pappu Nayak of Area Police Office, Mahendranagar.

A joint team of District Police Office, Dhanusha and Area Police Office, Mahendranagar have taken the dead bodies to the provincial hospital for postmortem.

According to police, they had consumed excessive amount of alcohol during the recently held Holi festival.

Earlier, half a dozen people had died due to alcohol consumption in the district last year.
