Pact signed for diverting 170 million liters water to Kathmandu



MELAMCHI: An agreement has been signed with Panchpokhari Thangpal rural municipality in connection with implementing the Yangri Larke Project under the second phase of the Melamchi Water Supply Project.

Works are near completion under the first phase of pumping 170 million liters water to Kathmandu Valley under the Project.

The dispute that had erupted regarding the affected areas with the people in the areas while diverting 340 million liters water to the Kathmandu Valley under the second phase, has been resolved paving the way for the signing of the agreement.

The Melamchi Water Supply Project Development Committee (MWSPDC) has agreed to fulfill the demands.

Its Executive Director Tiresh Prasad Khatri and rural municipality chair Tashi Lama have signed the agreement.
