APF, Nepal Police joint base camp established in Miklajung



BIRATNAGAR: A joint security post of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (AFP) has been established at Aitabare of Miklajung Rural Municipality on Sunday.

According to Kosh Hari Niraula, the Chief District Officer of Morang district, the joint base camp has been established at Miklajung considering the security concerns of the locals.

The security post, long awaited by the locals, will remain on temporary basis at first as it has not got formal permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs yet.

Last week, the outlawed Biplav-led Nepal Communist Party had brutally murdered a headmaster of a primary school in Miklajung.

The locals have felt relieved at the establishment of the security post in the locality.

As many  as 51 personnel including 36 members of APF under the command of Suman Budhathoki and 15 members of Nepal Police under the command of Inspector Milan Thapa have been deployed in the base camp at present.

According to the security sources, the personnel deployed at Miklajung are tasked with intensifying operations against the insurgent group, conduction special operations to search and the arrest the cadres of Biplav outfit of NCP, increasing surveillance and arrest of suspects and conducting regular patrols and reiki.
