NCP Standing Committee meeting postponed till Dec 16

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s Standing Committee (SC) has been postponed until December 16.

The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar was postponed by passing a condolence motion.

A meeting of the Standing Committee of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) held on Sunday has been postponed. The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar has been postponed by passing a condolence motion.

Party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the meeting was postponed after mourning the death of former lawmaker and party leader Kaman Singh Lama.

The next meeting will be held on December 16 at 1 pm.

Earlier, the venue of the meeting was shifted to Baluwatar from the party’s headquarters in Dhumbarahi ‘considering the health of Prime Minister and Chairman KP Oli’.

Lama died of coronavirus pandemic on December 9.

The meeting slated for today was scheduled to discuss the disputes within the party and the solution to the crisis, but informal homework has not been enough to find a way out.

Although there was an informal dialogue between the Prime Minister and Chairman Oli and another Chairman Prachanda from last Sunday to Saturday, no other meeting has been held at the top level to resolve the dispute.

Instead, group discussions and gatherings have taken place in the meantime.

A Standing Committee member said that even though the meeting was postponed for a week for informal discussions, no progress has been made in the meantime.
