Lalita Niwas land scam: Ex-CIAA Chief Basnyat appears before court



KATHMANDU: Former Chief of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Deep Basnyat accused in the Lalita Niwas land grab case has appeared before the court on Sunday.

According to Special Court Spokesperson Pushparaj Pandey, he appeared before the court and has been recording statements.

Basnyat’s statement has started in the bench of Justices Prem Raj Karki, Abdul Aziz Musalman, and Nityananda Pandey.

After hearing the case, the court will decide whether he will be released on a general date or bail or sent to jail.

The anti-graft body had filed a case at Special Court in Kathmandu against 175 people including Basnyat for the scam in which the government’s land was transferred into the name of individuals.

Earlier, the court had released Former Minister Chandra Dev Joshi charge-sheeted for his alleged involvement in the scam on general date.
