NCP Secretariat meeting begins at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: A Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has begun at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Prime Minister KP Oli had called the Secretariat meeting for today afternoon following pressure by a majority of Secretariat members, including NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”.

The meeting was scheduled for today after five top-notch leaders including NCP Executive Chairman Prachanda piled pressure on PM Oli to convene the meeting.

According to General Secretary Bishnu Paudel, the SC meeting has been held in line with the agreement between chairman duo PM Oli and Prachanda.

Dahal had been urging Prime Minister Oli to call party meetings to resolve the widening intra-party dispute.

The majority of Secretariat members had demanded the meetings after Oli warned that he would split the party if the meetings were convened without consensus.

Dahal-Nepal faction has been dissatisfied with Oli after latter unilaterally recommended ambassadors, reformed cabinet, brought no confidence motion against chief minister of Karnali Pradesh and held a meeting with the chief of the Research and Analysis Wing, the foreign intelligence agency of India.
