Home Minister Thapa directs to be sensitive in rape cases

KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has directed the line agencies to prepare an effective strategy to control the crimes, which have increased due to pandemic trauma and job loss.

Speaking at a virtual security seminar of State-1 here Tuesday, Minister Thapa said that effective plans were essential to curtail violence against women and rape cases as they are found increasingly reported of late in the country.

He also said that the State police force could be formed soon as laws regarding it was all most finalized.

Minister Thapa also directed the concerned sides to control black marketing as it could be increased during the festival period. The State-level security seminar was postponed due to pandemic since long. However, State-1 organized it virtually.

The event was addressed by Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai, Internal Affairs Minister of the State Hikmat Karki, Secretary at the MoHA Maheshwar Neupane, Security Chiefs of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department.
