Political crisis in Karnali Province heads towards resolution



SURKHET: The political turmoil in Karnali Province is moving towards a solution.

The political crisis has been resolved after the province assembly members of the Madhav Nepal group, who had signed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, backtracked.

An agreement has been reached between Chief Minister Shahi and the group loyal to leader Nepal. As per the agreement, the group will get three ministers and one parliamentary party whip.

Meanwhile, Kurmaraj Shahi, a member of the Madhav Nepal Group, has been appointed as the whip already.

Earlier, Sita Nepali was appointed as the Chief Whip on Monday.

As many as 18 members of the Karnali Provincial Assembly representing the ruling party had registered a no-confidence motion against CM Shahi on Sunday.

Members, including Deputy Speaker Pushpa Gharti Magar, Yam Lal Kandel, and Gulaph Jung Shah, had registered the no-confidence motion against Shahi.
