COVID-19: Woman under home isolation dies in Chitwan

CHITWAN: An octogenarian COVID-19 patient under home isolation in Chitwan succumbed to the pandemic on Sunday morning.

An 85-year-old woman from Bharatpur Metropolitan City-5 died of the coronavirus at around 6 am, said Superintendent of Police Nantiraj Gurung at District Police Office, Chitwan.

She had tested positive for the pandemic virus on August 31.

A total of 27 individuals died of coronavirus infection in Chitwan district so far.

Of them, 17 are the residents of Chitwan, Public Health Officer of Health Office, Chitwan, Geetanjali Dhakal said.

Likewise, five of them are from Makawanpur, three of Nawalparasi East, and one each from Gorkha and Kailali.

She said that 25 infected died in hospitals during treatment and others their way to the hospitals while two passed away under home isolation.

In Chitwan, Bharatpur Metropolitan City recorded the highest number of deaths with a total of ten.

The Office said that three died from Ratnanagar and two each from Khairahani Municipality and Rapti Municipality.

Information Officer of Bharatpur Hospital Leeladhar Poudel said that the total number of infected in Chitwan district reached 1,243, including 507 women.

He added that 299 infected ones were discharged from the hospitals after complete recovery from the virus.
