Over 60,000 Nepalis from 58 countries repatriated so far



KATHMANDU: As many as 60,926 Nepalis stranded aboard due to the coronavirus pandemic and other reasons have been repatriated so far.

According to the data released by the COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC), the highest number of 16,950 Nepalis have returned from the UAE among 58 countries till Friday.

Likewise, 9,441 Nepalis have returned home from Malaysia, 9,206 from Saudi Arabia and 6,897 from Kuwait, 7,350 from Qatar, 1,496 from Japan and 1,235 from Australia.

As many as 1,165 came back home from South Korea, 865 from Bangladesh, 845 from the Maldives, 667 Oman, 591 from the United States and 326 from Thailand.

Similarly, one Nepali national returned from Somalia, while less than 100 Nepalis have returned from Iraq, Switzerland, Iran, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Sudan, Nigeria, Uganda, Portugal, France, Spain, and Greece.

Also, a small number of Nepalis have returned from Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Armenia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Canada, Macau, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Israel and other countries.
