SURKHET: Karnali Province’s Capital Birendranagar will be under prohibitory order for five days starting on August 17.

A meeting of the District Security Committee on Thursday decided to impose a five-day prohibitory order on the recommendation of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center after a spike in coronavirus cases.

According to the District Administration Office, all the shops except medical, gas, milk, vegetables and foods will be closed while drinking water and garbage management services will continue uninterrupted.

Assistant Chief District Officer Bhim Kant Poudel said that it has been decided to issue the order in Birendranagar from 6 am on August 17 to 12 midnight on August 21.

The administration has warned that action will be taken according to the Local Administration Act 2028 and Infectious Diseases Act 2020 if found violating.

The administration has urged the public to keep all the necessary consumer goods in stock before the ban is issued.
Birendranagar has seen 35 COVID-19 cases in the past two days.
