KATHMANDU: The growing protests against the government that came following the slight relaxation in the lockdown it likely to create more security threats, the intelligence assessment briefed to the PM on Friday.

The protest against the government which seemed turning mild due to coronavirus pandemic and the countrywide lockdown enforced to curb it, is gathering momentum with the relaxation in the lockdown.

The security assessment briefed to the PM on Friday has expressed concern towards the prospective challenges the protests might create both to the government and the security system of the country.

“Politically, there is no direct involvement of any party,” the sources claimed, “However if the unorganized youths keep on intensifying their protest activities, the day may come when they may develop a new leadership or get one from the existing one.”

The source said that the PM was briefed that slight support the agitating mass gets from organized yet promising leadership, the situations can go beyond control.
