Republic bringing back land lost by monarchy: Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he is proud that the republic is going to amend the constitution to bring back the Nepali land lost by the monarchy.

Speaking at the beginning of the clause wise discussion on the second constitution amendment bill in the parliament, Prachanda expressed his happiness that all the parties have agreed to amend the constitution of Nepal.

He said that there was no alternative for all parties to unite to strengthen democracy and federalism.

Prachanda said, “We have reached a new stage to take back the lost territory of the country I would like to thank the government for taking the initiative to correct the map by amending the constitution through an all-party consensus on such a serious national issue.”

He also congratulated all the political parties and the Nepali people.

“It’s the result of a collective conscience,” he said.

Dahal further said that Nepal does not want enmity with India over the land dispute.

He said that responsible diplomatic efforts are being made to solve the problem.

Dahal said that Nepal was also forced to move forward after India inaugurated the road to Lipu Lekh.
