KATHMANDU: The Sajha Party has appealed to all sides concerned to postpone the demonstrations being held across the country.

As the government has committed to making the details of the COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment expenses public and increase effectiveness of the action plan against the pandemic, it should be given benefit of the doubt.

Issuing a statement here today, the party has welcomed the public commitments made to increase the scope of PCR testing in response to the nationwide demonstrations calling for the same.

The high-level coordination committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Iswar Pokharel on Friday made the commitments public.

Considering the government’s public commitment and the increasing rate of Coronavirus infection, the ongoing demonstrations should be postponed for some time to assess whether the government fulfills its commitments, reads the statement.

The party has also heartily appeal to all the citizens of the country to give a message of unity within and outside the parliament on issues of nationality, while welcoming the historical decision of the parliament to amend the Constitution reflecting a new national seal along with the updated map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani.

The House of Representatives is slated to endorse the constitution amendment proposal today.
