US reports 81, 759 deaths, 1,385,262 infection cases



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 972 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 81, 759.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 17, 624 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,385,262 as of Tuesday morning.

Currently, 1,042, 879 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,481 are critical.  Meanwhile, 260, 624 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 27, 003 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 9,341 and 5,108 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 212 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 286,986 and infecting 4,250,862  people as of Tuesday morning.
