KATHMANDU: Neighboring countries India and China have informed the Nepal Army (NA) Headquarters that they can provide medical supplies to Nepal.

India said it can provide 60 types of medicines. It said it won’t be able to provide medical equipment. China has communicated that it can provide both medicines and medical equipment, media reports said on Sunday.

The countries have maintained that all the needed medical supplies can’t be provided at once. China and India have provided the NA Headquarters with the list of medicines and medical supplies that can be supplied immediately.

NA is currently preparing a list to procure medical supplies from the countries, according to sources.

South Korea has informed the national army of different companies manufacturing medical supplies and said it was ready to facilitate if necessary. Singapore and Israel are yet to reply.

The government had assigned NA to bring medical supplies after a recent purchase from China courted controversy.

With the government’s decision, NA Headquarters had written to China, India, South Korea, Singapore and Israel to procure medical supplies on a government to government deal.
