House held hostage to NCP indecision: NC

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has objected to the postponement of a meeting of House of Representatives for a third time in a row.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, NC said, “the party was that the meeting was postponed yet again. The party recognizes it as an irresponsible behavior shown by the government and the ruling party to Parliament.”

The party’s Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma in the statement said that it was condemnable and shameful that the House of Representatives is sans Speaker for more than three months.

A meeting of House of Representatives slated for Sunday has been postponed till 1 pm on January 20 after the ruling party has remained undecided on a candidate for a new Speaker.
